Qhelile Ndlovu

Financial Sector Specialist
The World Bank

Qhelile Ndlovu is a financial sector specialist in the World Bank Crises and Disaster Risk Finance team where she advises governments on policies and programs related to financial protection against climate and disaster risk, as well as development of domestic risk finance markets. Since joining the World Bank in 2021 Qhelile has advised over 12 countries across Africa and Central America.

As a member of the DRIVE project, Qhelile leads and coordinates the project’s activities to deepen takaful markets in Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Qhelile has extensive private sector experience from over 6 years of working in the reinsurance market in southern and eastern Africa. Qhelile is a Rhodes scholar and holds an MSc in African Studies and an MSc in Statistics from the University of Oxford as well as BSc in Financial Mathematics (cum laude) and Actuarial Science (summa cum laude) from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in South Africa.
