John has been working as a country writer for Axco since 1996.  Initially taken on to write Axco’s first reports on some of the emerging markets of central and east Europe, he soon expanded his range to cover large markets in the Asia-Pacific region, including China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand.

After studying Classics at Cambridge University, John had an early career as a UK non-marine insurance broker.  He then took a three-year career break to live and work in Serbia during the breakup of the former Yugoslavia.  His technical knowledge as an insurance broker, combined with his practical experience of living in an ex-communist country, have helped him to understand and explain the unique characteristics of the evolving Chinese insurance scene for the benefit of Axco’s subscribers.
